We are seeking an Asset & Compliance Manager with experience in Section 8, HUD, LIHTC, Yardi, internal audits, fair housing regulations, and asset and/or property management. The successful candidate will work with our Asset Management team to ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements and internal policies while optimizing the financial performance and operational efficiency of the portfolio.

Job Summary:

The Asset & Compliance Manager is responsible for supporting the asset management team and ensuring compliance of the portfolio. The position requires a detail-oriented person who also enjoys team collaboration and communication with the various stakeholders to maintain compliance and maximize the portfolio's value.

Responsibilities:

Compliance Management:

  • Collaborate with Operations Managers and 3rd party property management compliance departments to ensure compliance with Section 8, HUD, LIHTC, and fair housing regulations across the portfolio.

  • Monitor and manage ongoing regulatory compliance processes, including certifications, audits, and inspections.

  • Oversee the implementation and execution of internal audit programs and corrective action plans.

  • Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.

  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, auditors, and property management teams during compliance reviews.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant regulations and their impact on operations.

Operational Oversight:

  • Support Sr. Asset Manager and collaborate with the Asset Management team to ensure efficient and effective operations.

  • Provide guidance and support to property managers on operations and compliance-related matters.

  • Review property performance and financial reports to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

  • Gather, assemble and maintain standardized operating procedures to optimize portfolio performance.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track portfolio performance and compliance.

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Assist in budget preparation, variance analysis, and financial reporting for the portfolio.

  • Review financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and identify areas for improvement.

  • Work closely with the Senior Asset Manager to develop strategies for financial optimization and cost reduction.

  • Provide recommendations for capital expenditures and asset preservation initiatives.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies, auditors, and other external stakeholders.

  • Act as a liaison between the portfolio and regulatory agencies, responding to inquiries and resolving compliance-related issues.

  • Collaborate with the Senior Asset Manager and other internal teams to align objectives and drive results.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Real Estate, or a related field.

  • 3-5 years of experience in compliance and/or property management, preferably in affordable housing.

  • Strong knowledge of Section 8, HUD, LIHTC, Yardi, fair housing regulations, and compliance requirements.

  • Experience with internal audits and developing corrective action plans.

  • Experience with documenting Standard Operating Procedures

  • Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) and/or Tax Credit Specialist (TCS) certifications preferred.

  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively

  • Willingness to travel to corporate office and/or to properties in portfolio (approx. 3-4 times per year)

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Starting from $55,000.00 per year
